Method #1

First of all you need to go to Start Screen, then open Mail application by clicking on it. Then press on Win + C to release Charm Bar.

Then click on Settings.

Then click on Accounts.

Select email account you will turn off or activate its notification.

Then scroll down menu below until you find words: “Show email notifications for this account” just like the image below. To turn off email notification, click on Off. To turn it on again, click On.

Method #2

Select the email you will turn off or activate its notification on the left sidebar on Mail application of Windows 8.

Then click on Inbox, after that, on the lowest Inbox list, click on menu which state: “To get messages older than two weeks, go to Settings.” This Menu will bring you directly into Setting email.

Finally, click On or Off in option “Show email notifications for this account.”
