Whats New on Google Design and Appearance?

When I search on Google this morning, I was amazed with the new look of Google design. At first I’m not too realize with the different, but then I was surprised that Google has been changed with a new look especially on their navigation bar.

Take a look on this new Google homepage design below:

Now Google has black navigation bar across on its top page.

When you look on the search result area, you will found the search area is offset from the rest of page and it has light gray color. It also has new graphical search button without “I’m Feeling Lucky” button. The sidebar now using simple white color and it’s look more clean than before.

Google Image Search design and image search result are very similiar with google web search. Black navigation bar with light gray offset search area.

Then Google Place new design has a clean and well organized. It’s not cluttered looking as the former layout. Take a look at the google place new design below:

Google said that you will continue to see more updates over the few next month. So this changes is only the beginning of the bigger Google transformation. In my personal opinion, I like this new Google design. It’s more simple, clean and smooth than before. How about you?

I like the new design mostly, still not 100% sure about the images page since they change it to enlarge onmouseover though.

Thanks for your feedback, Dan :)

It think the design is fine, shame the original options down the left hand side of the page couldn’t be kept as they were…and also don’t find as many images available compared to what they provided before the change over.

I like the current (the 30 june – 2 july 2011 theme), with that blacky border and orangy options (google images).

I’m a bit ambivalent about the new design for maps. The direction finder has some nice new features (like the double-click auto-zoom for each route), but the design feels very cluttered compared with the old, clean minimalistic one. Also, the icons are very difficult to read — far too little contrast, far too much detail. The car and bus are nearly indistinguishable! Finally, the scroll bar is too narrow to comfortably click and drag. (But maybe they expect everyone to use the scroll wheel on their mouse for that).

I had already emailed Google about the new design.  Got no response.  I miss the “Advanced Search” link you would normally find at the home page http://www.google.com  In order to get the Advanced Search link on it’s second page, I simply type a non-searchabled character like comma (“,”).  Immediately, I get the second page and also get the Advanced Search link.  I still don’t know why they took the link away from the Google Home Page.

Yep J, the advance search link is not placed on Google’s home page. Now it’s only appear on Google search result page. You don’t have to type a non searchable character to make it appear. Simply search anything and it would be appear on the bellow the search button. Thanks for your feedback on spyontech :)

I don’t really like it.  It looks less ‘fun’ (which is one feeling I have always associated with Google) and more business-like.  My two cents’, Paul
