It often happened when browsing, we found so many interesting articles, so that there’s not enough time for us to read all of them. Solution is: storing those articles in one place to be read later. In order to do this, you can use one of these three web applications which are SOT’s favorites:
In the past, Pocket is known as Read It Later. This application can be used to store various interesting articles you found.
You can visit Pocket here:
After register there, you can download its various applications. Pocket has application for Mac OS, iPhone/iPad, Android, Kindle Fire, also in Firefox add-ons. This application can make you easier to store and read your chosen articles.
For example, you found an interesting article in SOT, but you don’t have time to read it. You’d just have to click on Pocket icon below your Firefox browser.
List of articles you’ve selected will be displayed in Pocket menu. If you already read it, just click on Mark as Read. If you have many article list, you can search it via searching feature provided.
Your selected article will also be synchronized automatically into your Pocket account and also all of your device. So you can store it from your smartphone / tablet and read it in PC or the opposite.
One of the Pocket disadvantage is, no folder setting feature for articles we selected. So, all articles would be grouped into one in our Pocket. But we can use Tag feature to collect our selected articles.
From appearance, instapaper seemed simple. You can visit Instapaper here:
In order to use it, you should drag your instapaper bookmarklet into bookmark toolbar browser. After that, when you found an attractive website page, just click on the bookmarklet.
The article you’ve selected will be stored in Instapaper and you can read it another time.
In instapaper you can create folder to group article, but it’s not equipped with searching feature.
The other instapaper weakness is, the paid-application, whether for Android, iPhone, or iPad.
You can also use Readability to store the attractive articles.
You can also visit Readability here:
After you got registered, you can install Readability add-on in Firefox. You can also install Android application or iOS apps for free.
When you found an interesting page, just click on Read Later and the page will be directly stored in your Readability account.
One of Readability weakness is, article format displayed sometimes mess. So, you’d better visit the real website page you store than read it in Readability.
From those three applications, SOT chose Pocket. First, because its application supports are complete and free. All articles we stored would be synchronized into our iPad, iPhone, or Android. Second, because the feature can be considered the most complete from all. Add-on support, tagging feature, and searching made Pocket became SOT’s main option.
Now you don’t have to be confuse when finding so many attractive articles, but you have no time to read it. Just store those articles in those three applications above and you can read it another time.
